The Faux Baker’s Best Kept Secret

Trader joe’s frozen croissants

How about waking up to the intoxicating aroma of a bakery in the comfort of your own home? A pack of Trader Joe’s frozen croissants ($2.99 for 8 mini croissants) is all it takes to give the impression of an accomplished baker without having to do very much. All it requires is opening a box and defrosting frozen croissants on a baking sheet. That’s it.  The magic Trader Joe’s elves do the work overnight and you’ll wake up to a very distinct yeasty smell and see perfect fluffy croissants ready to be baked.

Directions: Place frozen croissants on a lined baking sheet, make sure to place croissants at least three inches apart as they’ll triple in size (!).  Let rise overnight or about 7-9 hours. In the morning, pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. While the oven is preheating, brush with a little egg wash and sprinkle with sea salt (optional). Pop them in the oven for 15-18 minutes. Finish the last minute on low broil for an extra crusty top. Enjoy!
