6 Ways to Enjoy Boiled Eggs
Boiled eggs: a breakfast staple, a post-workout snack hero, and a fridge-filler that always seems to be around. But let’s face it, sometimes the classic salt-and-pepper routine can get a little, well, boring. We thought it was time to repaint the classic blank canvas with a few more interesting combinations.
For perfect hard-boiled eggs:
- Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan. Make sure they’re not crowded and have enough space.
- Cover the eggs with cold water. Aim for about an inch of water above the eggs.
- Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
- Once boiling, remove the pan from heat altogether, cover it, and let the eggs sit in the hot water for 10-12 minutes.
- For easier peeling, immediately transfer the eggs to a bowl filled with ice water and let them sit for at least 14 minutes.
Enjoy these dressed-up boiled eggs as a delightful treat on your own or to elevate a platter for your next gathering.
- Kimchi Kick: Top the boiled egg with your favorite kimchi for a spicy, savory twist. The tangy fermented cabbage pairs beautifully with the richness of the egg, and a sprinkle of furikake adds an earthy finishing touch.
- Deviled Eggs: We love this Southern classic for its silky yolk mixture of mayonnaise and a dash of Dijon mustard. Topped with paprika for an extra kick.
- Chili Crunch: Fresh slices of avocado with a generous amount of chili crunch packs a perfectly balanced punch.
- Cacio e Pepe: Elevate your egg with the simplicity of cacio e pepe. Grate some parmesan cheese and freshly cracked black pepper over your halved-boiled egg. The salty cheese and peppery bite complement the egg for a sophisticated and satisfying snack.
- Smoked Salmon Stack: Treat yourself to a luxurious breakfast (or anytime!) with this combo. Layer sliced smoked salmon on top of whipped cream cheese. A squeeze of lemon juice and fresh dill will complete this delightful bite.
- BLT Remix: Give the classic BLT a protein boost by adding a sliced boiled egg. The creamy egg yolk adds richness, while the protein helps keep you feeling full longer.
