“We can come together, we won’t give up on the fight,” sounds the trumpets of Nashville-based band Moon Taxi on their newest single “Two High,” a song written in response to the Women’s March of 2017 and the push for peace. With over 83 million streams on Spotify, the smash single off their latest album “Let the Record Play,” is a song about hope and coming together. The band’s inclusive worldview—shaped by their personal influences—is evident in their eclectic sound that unapologetically brings together different musical worlds. A recipe for success, if you ask us.
“I ask no favor for my sex. All I ask of our brethren is that they take their feet off our necks.” In theaters May 4, the documentary RBG is an intimate look at the diminutive woman who quietly changed the landscape for American women, fighting to ensure all women have a seat at the table. Her efforts led her to the U.S. Supreme Court, and at 84 years old, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (aka The Notorious RBG) has become a hero and an icon that has never been afraid to voice her dissent. Let the record show, we can’t wait to see this film.
“Put it on instead of the news,” was the advice I received from my sister after a particularly rough day (week if we’re being honest). She was right. Queer Eye, the 2018 Netflix reboot of the mid 2000s reality tv makeover show is uplifting, funny, and has you shedding happy tears by the end. Even if it uses a bottle-fed formula, sometimes watching a 56 year old man get a new lease on life is the antidote we need. The fact that there are only 8 episodes in its first season seems like a cruel mistake. I’m requesting a refill already.
